Welcome to our Gifted Patients Page!

Each patient is gifted in different and unique ways.

Today, we are featuring poetry by Natalina Monti.

Me

I am me. The me God wanted me to be. The me that is an extension of he, my father in heaven. I am special. I am unique. One of a kind. The me that can’t be reproduced. I am not a mistake of nature. For God never makes mistakes. Mistakes are only made by us humans. I refuse to view myself through the eyes of limitation. I see myself through the eyes of my creator. For, only through him, can I be seen from within, which is the real and clear vision of me, the one and only me. How many of us can see as I see? I mean truly see?

Reflection

When will I accept the me I see looking back at me? When will I like myself for who I am? When will I be able to see the real me inside and out? What will it take? How much time will it take?
It will take self acceptance. It will take a good self image and esteem. It will take having patience in myself and the ability to look beyond the mirror looking back at me. It will take prescription glasses written by the perfect doctor, God himself. Only these glasses can help me see the real me. My reflection beyond my flaws, my pride, my disability; cerebral palsy, and mental illness. These glasses have helped me clear my distorted vision and bring into focus my issues so that I could cope with them one at a time. Facing these issues has been a challenge for me to do on a daily basis. Some days I get so discouraged and tired of dealing with it all and I just want to give up the fight! It is during these times that I have to reach deep into myself and find the strength that I thought I didn’t have left over in my reserves. It is during these times that my glasses are needed the most so that I can see clearly who I am and what I am made of. With these glasses I am able to see myself for the woman and human being that I am. Therefore, allowing the freeing of myself from the chains of limitation that have blinded me from a healthy self image. Now, I am finally free to be myself and be able to see my reflection looking back at me through the mirror of truth.

Embrace

Embrace who you are inside and out. Accept that you are only a human being, doing the best you can on a daily basis. Love yourself, always no matter what. Embrace your mental illness and chemical imbalance today, and accept that it is an illness not a sign of weakness. For it’s a part of you whether you want to admit it or not. Embrace your illness and use it as a beacon of light and hope to reach out to other individuals that surround you today and everyday. Embrace your illness and allow it to be a sign of strength and courage, for, recovery can be attained and maintained for lifetime if you follow the following advice.

1). Love yourself for who you are everyday, no matter what happens around you.
2). Empower yourself with knowledge for it is the starting point for understanding.
3). Do not be ashamed to reach out for help and treatment regarding your mental health.
4). Consider starting therapy with a licensed qualified therapist , one who can teach you valuable coping skills , and consider joining a support group.
5). be active on a daily basis for exercise is essential for mental health, as well as physical.
6). Keep an open mind about everything that is happening around you and try seeing the positive side of situations , for this is extremely essential in maintaining mental balance. A positive attitude with proper treatment and diagnosis, with therapy and support are also important in maintaining your recovery.
7). Last but not least, remember that you are not alone in your recovery and that there are people around you who want to support and help you.
Embrace yourself today. Love yourself. Believe in yourself and don't be afraid to reach out for help. If I can do it, you can do it! I believe in myself and I believe in you! Do you believe in yourself? It is up to you to take the first step, to reach out and embrace yourself and life.
